Little Theatre Opens Season with “Driving Miss Daisy”

Little Theatre Dance Hall

The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre is planning two events for March. The Theatre will once again show its entertainment diversity. The new southern music series “Bayou-Delta Connection” will bring regional music bands to the theater monthly.   On Saturday,  March 19th, the Theatre auditorium will become a dance hall and showcase a Clarksdale, Mississippi juke joint party band aptly named the “Juke Joint Rockers.”  They are crowd favorites in Clarksdale, Mississippi, birthplace of the Blues.  These musicians can all be heard playing at jam sessions, weekend-end club dates at Red’s, The Shack-up Inn, and Ground Zero owned by Mississippi-born Morgan Freeman, and festivals.  The Juke Joint Rockers are all-star players fronted by Stan Street who plays washboard, sax, drums, harmonica, and performs vocals.  The show starts at 7pm.  Cover charge is $10.  Beverages will be sold at the theater.

The Stellaaaaa Yelling Contest!!

Also in March, the Little Theatre will hold its annual tribute to writer Tennessee Williams on Saturday, March 26th.  The Little Theatre is the building that was prominently featured as the Starr Boarding House in the major Hollywood motion picture “This Property is Condemned” starring Natalie Wood and Robert Redford.  The screenplay is based on the one-act play of the same name written by Williams.  The Little Theatre’s tie to Williams initiated the annual event to be celebrated on or near his birth date of  March 26th.  This year he would have been 100 years old.
