The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre will open its 72st season with the popular, comedy parody “Nine to Five” based on screenplay by Colin Higgins and Patricia Resnick. The show opens September 15th. It leads the great entertainment scheduled for the 2017-2018 season. The Little Theatre will be accepting new membership enrollment for the new season until September 15th. “Nine to Five” was a critically acclaimed 1980 comedy that starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman. The movie parody will provide many of the hilarious moments that were on screen. The story tells of Violet Newstead who is stuck at a dead end job working under a boss that she trained. She is at her wit’s end. When the boss’ good natured secretary and a new hire have also had enough, their revenge fantasy becomes a comedic reality in a scheme that wildly spins out of control.
The show is directed and produced by Cheryl Grace. Christina Richardson is assistant director. The cast includes Barry Newman, Kelly Olin Norris, Kathe Newcomb, Cheryl Grace, Nancy Moynan, Christina Richardson, Matt Issman, Irv Hansen, Terry Cullen, Linda Aiavolasiti, Mark Russell, Robert Smith, Denise White, Kathy Pinn, Theresa Geboy, and Clayton Pennylegion. The Stage Manager is Melissa Kelton. Laurie Spaschak is set designer. Set construction is by Dean Noel and Jen Coulter. Beverly Vincent is manager of sound and lights. Volunteer coordinator is Christina Richardson. Stage crew is Jen Coulter. Sound effects and promotion is done by Clayton Pennylegion. All theater magic is possible through Dean Noel and Laurie Spaschak.
The show dates and times are September 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 8pm and September 17, 24 and October 1st at 2pm. Doors open one hour before the show and seating starts 30 minutes before each show.
Tickets for the show can be purchased online or purchased at Lulu’s at 126 Main Street or Twin Light Creations at 136 Main Street. Ticket fees are $18 adults, $10 Seniors 65+, veterans, military, and students with ID, and $8 for children 12 and under. Seat reservations can be made online or by calling 228-467-9024 or email the Little Theatre. Reservations for seats are recommended for all ticket holders including season ticket holders to be able to accommodate the show’s audiences.
