The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre will open its 71st season with the popular, iconic play “Twelve Angry Men” by Reginald Rose. It leads the great entertainment scheduled for the 2016-2017 season. The Little Theatre will be accepting new membership enrollment for the new season until September 23rd.
“Twelve Angry Men” was a critically acclaimed teleplay which aired in 1954 and then adapted into a cinematic masterpiece in 1957 starring Henry Fonda. It is a blistering character study and an examination of the American melting pot and the judicial system that keeps it in check. A jury deliberates to decide the life-or-death fate of a young defendant. While the deliberations begin with the intentions to stay on point with just the evidence, soon the arguments become personal. Each juror reveals his own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted, and a new murder threat is born. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become twelve angry men.
The show is directed and produced by Cheryl Grace. The cast includes Barry Newman, Mark Madison, Richard O’Briant, Gayle Morton, Irv Hansen, Jeff Campbell, Bruce Northridge, Bill Matkin, Robert Smith, Terry Cullen, Jim Codling, Bill Myers, Rick Webster, and Clayton Pennylegion. Laurie Spaschak and Mark Madison are set designers. Set construction is by Dean Noel. Beverly Vincent is manager of sound and lights. Volunteer coordinator is Christina Richardson.
The show dates and times are September 23, 24, 30, October 1 at 8pm and September 25 and October 2 at 2pm. Doors open one hour before the show and seating starts 30 minutes before each show.
This is a show for the entire family. Tickets for the show can be purchased online or purchased at Maggie May’s at 126 Main Street or Twin Light Creations at 136 Main Street. Ticket fees are $15 adults, $10 Seniors 65+, veterans, military, and students with ID, and $6 for children 12 and under. Seat reservations can be made online or by calling 228-467-9024 or email the Little Theatre. Reservations for seats must be made for all ticket holders including season ticket holders to be able to accommodate the show’s audiences.
