The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre will start the new year with the iconic production “The Graduate” written for the stage by Terry Johnson from a screenplay by Buck Henry and Calder Washington and a novel by Charles Webb. The history making movie starred Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. The movie was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Lead Actor, and Best Lead Actress. The director, Mike Nichols, won the Oscar for Best Director.

“The Graduate” was a major box office hit. It became well-known as a romantic comedy motion picture starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. It is the story of 21 year old Benjamin, a recent college graduate with no well-defined aim in life, who is seduced by an older woman, Mrs. Robinson, then falls in love with her daughter.

The show is directed by Gary Taylor, assisted by Marie Ballantyne, and produced by Cheryl Grace. The cast includes Norman Boyd, Cheryl Grace, Shannon Wooten, Clayton Pennylegion, Anita Lynn, Jim Fraiser, Irv Hansen, Terry Cullen, Melissa Kelton, Genie Talbert, Jen Coulter, Jeremiah Wright, and Gloria Noonan. Jerry Scott will do set design. Set construction is by Dean Noel. The stage manager is Maggie Marquez-Wooten.

The show dates and times are January 20, 26, 27 & February 2, 3 at 8pm and January 21 and 28 at 2pm. Doors open one hour before the show and seating starts 30 minutes before each show.

Tickets for the show can be purchased online or purchased at Lulu’s at 126 Main Street or Twin Light Creations at 136 Main Street. Ticket fees are $18 adults, $10 Seniors 65+, veterans, military, and students with ID, and $8 for children 12 and under. Seat reservations can be made online or by calling 228-467-9024 or email the Little Theatre. Reservations for seats are recommended for all ticket holders including season ticket holders to be able to accommodate the show’s audiences.
